People who shaped Jersey City
Jersey City is in Hudson County, New Jersey, across the Hudson River from Manhattan. It became an independent municipality in 1838. Downtown, the Heights, Journal Square and Bergen-Lafayette are distinct starting points. Liberty State Park and Liberty Science Center are local destinations. Lenape homeland and colonial settlement
